Remember- Republicans are not for the troops

Democrats were furious that the GOP leadership allowed none of the 35 amendments they had proposed earlier to be voted on. They particularly wanted provisions that would exempt from the new bankruptcy requirements military personnel returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and people whose indebtedness is the result of financial identity theft.


Identity theft is a real problem. So is getting your life together after being in Iraq or Afghanistan.

What I really wonder about though, is why we're giving this giveaway to the credit card companies- they charge usurious interest because of the risk of default.

Hopefully, in the long run, this will cause people to use credit cards less. But it is also likely to help torpedo the economy.
